A Few Garage Floor Coatings

There are many different options for you to choose from when you decide to choose your garage flooring.

Not only will garage floor paint give you some attractive color, but it will also provide you with a great coating. It will also shield the floor from damage such as chemical stains, and keep your garage floors looking good while doing it. There are many brand names to choose from, so we will just take a look at a few to get an idea of what is out there.

EPOXYShield Coating By Rust-Oleum

Available in tans and browns, Rust-Oleum EPOXYShield Garage Floor Coating is a popular choice. The lack of color options may deter some, especially considering lots of people are primarily looking to add color to the garage floors. If brown works for you, though, or you just don't care, this may be the choice for you. As a nice additional touch, the kit even comes with a DVD with installation instructions. As is most garage floor coating, this product is both stain resistant and water proof. The reviews are awesome, and that tells you how easy it must be to install.

Epoxy Coating By Weatherbeater

Weatherbeater's Epoxy Coating promises similar results as the Rust-Oleum, but it does not have the DVD with instructions. It also is not as well rated, but it does contain optional decorative ships for accenting the garage floor. It is also worth mentioning that the poor reviews could stem from installation issues, caused by the lack of DVD. This may or may not apply to you, depending on your experience and handiness. Salt, oil, and gasoline are all on the lists of things that Weatherbeater says their coating is resistant against.

Coating By Quikrete

What may be the most popular garage flooring paint, possibly because it is available in 40 colors, Quikrete has been around for quite a while. As with the Weatherbeater, this kit also comes with color flakes if you wish to use them to accent your garage floor. Their claim is that it is the toughest of the available somekeyword finishes, and that concrete alone is only half as strong. The price is higher than the others, though, and reviews are scarce. However, no news may be good news as people more often review products because they failed then succeeded.

Paint is most likely the hardest type of covering to install, but it is also the cheapest, and will provide the most enduring solution. Do-it-yourselfers are certain to go with this option since they can treat a whole single car garage for less than $75. If you take into consideration how much money you won't be spending on repairing your concrete later, that is a great deal.
